COMMUNITY PROJECTS - ABOUT

I deliver fun singing and songwriting projects online and in person along the south coast. Past projects have ranged widely in terms of subject, location and funder, but they are all carefully designed to build participants’ confidence, creativity and social connections, and to bring a little more joy to every day life!

Each project is bespoke, with the content and pace designed to meet the needs of the people I’ll be working with. I also love running projects based around a particular theme (e.g. sea, forest, life stage, historical event) and I’m always full of ideas if you are not sure what would work. You can see a full list of past projects on the “News” page. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you would like to discuss developing something new.

The video below is about Nature Songs, a popular project delivered in the public parks of Exeter and combining singing, songwriting and nature connection:

My community projects are designed to support the “Five Ways to Wellbeing”. They are particularly helpful in relation to Connecting, Taking Notice and Learning:

  • Loneliness and isolation can be alleviated as people connect with each other and develop a sense of shared purpose.
  • Skillful facilitation, questioning and curiosity (and the process itself for songwriting projects), encourages people to take notice of the world around them, to recognise and share their own thoughts and feelings and to view subjects from other perspectives.
  • People learn new skills in singing, writing and recording and are also gently supported to do things that they may find challenging at first.

And of course, singing in itself also has a range of well-established health benefits, from improving posture and breathing to lifting mood and lowering blood pressure and stress levels.

“Amy has a talent for putting people at ease, her leadership skills brought us together in a common bond. Amy collated all the ideas put forward for our topic, she co-ordinated the format, put the music to the words and led us all on a musical journey I think none of us will forget. I would be more than happy to work with Amy again.”
“To feel like we put those words together, it was a proud moment, like ‘Wow! We have done that!’. It’s really sweet to do something.”
